Dr. Gary Ladd:
Diving Psychologist

I began SCUBA diving in 1975 off the shores of the Bay of Fundy on Canada's east coast, world famous for its extreme tidal exchanges and challenging diving conditions. I continue to be enthusiastic about diving and love "getting wet" in British Columbia's coastal waters. I live and work in Vancouver BC, Canada.

When I work with a diver, I am drawing on a blend of my knowledge of diving and my expertise in psychology. I am a Registered Psychologist in the province of British Columbia. I work extensively with performance problems, anxiety and trauma. I am on the training staff of the EMDR Institute and the B.C. School of Professional Psychology. I am listed in the Canadian Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology and a member of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. I am an EMDRIA Certified Consultant in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a comprehensive method for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and an EMDR training facilitator.

I am active in the local dive community. I was research director of the Abacus Dive Project and a member of the Safety Committee for the Underwater Council of British Columbia. Previously, I served as consulting psychologist to IANTD Canada and the Canadian Deep Wrecking Crew (a technical diving exploration team). I have presented on the psychological aspects of diving at medical, technical diving, and dive safety seminars and conferences. ©1999-2020 Ladd & Co. Pro Services Corp.
